To enhance our capabilities further and with the additional space to fill now the Warehouse Extension is complete we have recently purchased a SR-32J11 Type B sliding head lathe which offers higher accuracy, higher rigidity and increased productivity. The 8 station back working platen with Y2 axis increases "overlapping" opportunities to reduce cycle times and increases the total number of tools that could be mounted to 39. Flexibility has also been enhanced with the ability to switch between guide bush and non-guide bush modes. Spindle performance has been increased with more speed and power across all four spindle motors. We have also added a new XYZ SMX 2500 bed milling machine to our prototype cell. This has a table size of 1245mm x 228mm and 560mm programmable Z height. Because of features such as 3 axis conversational programming, bolt hole patterns and mill arc functions this machine will give us increased flexibility and speed for one off components and small batch production. Investment in the latest machinery is essential for growth of the business.
